Welcome to ODBD's August Release Hop!!!

Hi Everyone - We're celebrating Summertime here at ODBD with our newest Release!!  I was so excited to see all the new stamps and dies that I could barely contain myself.  I went with the Sand Dollar theme this month but if you've been hopping along you know there's so much more.  And if you haven't hopped along - you may want to :)!!  As always there will be prizes!!

Prize Information:
Three winners will be randomly chosen from the comments left on the designers blogs to receive a $15 Gift Certificate to the ODBD Store, to be used toward the purchase of ODBD Stamps found in the "stamps column" of the website.  You have until August 2, 2014 at 9:00 p.m. EDT to leave your comments!  The Winners will be posted on the ODBD Blog on August 3rd, so be sure to check back there to see if you won!

My first project uses the new Sand Dollar Bookmark stamp along with the fussy-cut Sand Dollar image from the Ocean Treasures set.  To make this card I started with the ODBD's new Center Step Card Template, Gently stamped the Chalkboard Lattice background on a sheet of white card stock then Die-cut the Decorative Corners Dies and several flourishes using the Fancy Foliage die.  I adhered the corner dies and held onto the flourishes for later.

Legend of the Sand Dollar - Bookmark

Next I stamped The Mighty Sea image in Sahara Sand ink - Twice.  The second time it was stamped Upside Down, beneath the first image.  It's so cool - the images lined up perfectly and extended the ocean look to fit the Book Mark!!  I used chalks for a hint of color on the Sun, Sky and Sea -just enough to add interest and focus to  the Legend of the Sand Dollar.  You can read it better in the close-up photo below.

Legend of the Sand Dollar - Close-up

At this point I stamped and cut-out the Sand Dollar, then added White Flocking powder to certain areas here and there for dimension on this beautiful shell.  That detail shows best in the first and last photos - love the look it created!!  The last steps were the arrangement of the different elements and adding the final touches, which for this card were the Bookmark Ribbons, punched flowers and glitter.  Here's one more view at a different angle.

Sand Dollars are one of my favorite shells, and the Legend of the Sand Dollar is so special - I just love these stamps!!  My next card also uses the Ocean Treasures stamp and I just love how it came out!!  Very different from the first card - and it uses one of my favorite ODBD Paper collections - Blushing Rose.

Sand Dollar Frame

I started by die-cutting and adhering two panels to create the card base, then I die-cut the frame from the Blushing Rose Collection papers.  Next I stamped and carefully cut the Sand Dollar image three times, stamped and die-cut the sentiment tag, and started assembling.  Here's the another view:

Next I added a couple of punched flowers.  Then I added a few more flowers, and a few more.  I ended up with these little flowers in all the die-cut areas of the frame, except at the very top.  Didn't want the flowers to steel the show here since the Sand Dollars are the main event, so I tried to coordinate the flower colors with the background colors to help them blend in.  The last and final touches were the little dots of liquid pearls to the flower centers and the twine around the frame/border.  Below is a close-up of all the details:

I hope you enjoyed what you saw here today, and that you've found some inspiration not only here but throughout your time hopping along.
