To one person - You may be the World!!

Hi everone!!  Hope you're enjoying some sunshine wherever you are today - it's beautiful here and after so much rain that's a wonderful thing!!

I have a Color Throwdown Challenge card to share today - it's my last as the May Guest Designer and I can honestly say it was a blessing to be a part of this group.  I enjoyed the color challenges and feel like this experience refreshed my color style a bit - so thank you Wanda and all the girls at CTD for the opportunity!!

CTD #144 - You are the World

To make this card I used the Acetate and Rolled Marbles techniques, but I prepared my One Layered card base by placing a sticky note in the center.  then I used Going Gray and Daffodil Delight markers to color a sheet of Acetate, spritzed it with a bit of water, and placed it onto the card front.  Then I dropped Tempting Turquoise, Pink Passion, Daffodil Delight and Silver re-inkers into a flat stamp box with four Marbles and rolled them around on top of the card front.

You are the World Front View

Normally this rolled marble technique is done on glossy cardstock and I can see why - this heavy cardstock doesn't absorb the color quite as well as the glossy paper does.  So I took the acetate/marble technique to the next level by 'mashing' the acetate into the container lid (to transfer the pretty colors onto the acetate), then placed the acetate over the cardstock - this gives even more texture to the design!!

You are the World - Close-up

To finish it off I added three Prima Flowers, rolled and distressed them a bit as well, placed them over a bed of Silver Twine and punched leaves.  I love the random artsy/painted look - it's so different for me!!  Above is a close-up of the sentiment - one of my favorites :)!!

Dreams Come True - CTD #243

Good morning - happy Wednesday!!  Today's card is my newest creation for the Color Throwdown Challenge team - and it's made in celebration of these delightful colors:  Daffodil Delight, Wild Wasabi, Marina Mist as well as Black and White.  I love the inspiration that came to me from this grouping.

Today's card is for the CTD #243, and also for a very special Nephew who's getting married this weekend.  He and his bride to be are a very special couple, well suited for each other - they truly seem perfect together.

I started by cutting the four Hearts using a Sizzix nesting dies - two panels glued together for the front, and two for the back.  This gives extra strength to the card base and hopefully helps it last the test of time!!

May all your Dreams come true

Next I stamped the Rubbernecker Sentiment, die-cut and colored the flourish, punched the pine-spray/sprigs and arranged all the colorful flowers.  At that point I added the blue border and highlighted the sentiment using Copic markers, then assembled/glued the flowers.

Here's a picture that shows the standing card, opened:

Serenity on the Sea

Hi friends and bloggers - I hope you're all doing well!!  Whew, it's crazy around here - but the good news is our home remodeling projects have been successful and are nearly complete!!  Yippeeeeee!!!

Today is Tuesday, and for me that means a new ODBD SLC Card - and this week is all about the Sea and Sky.  How better to celebrate the sea and sky on a card than by using ODBD stamps.  To make this card I started by stamping the Old Flag background in Sahara Sand ink, then lightly color-washing the stamp with a wide paintbrush in Real Red and Midnight Muse.  It give the background a softly colored look that I was after.

Serenity on the Sea

Once the background was complete I stamped the Waves on the Sea stamp in Midnight Muse, and then  used Glossy Glaze to accent the boat and water.  Also used a little white acrylic on the water, and then moved on to the frame and tag.  The frame is stamped in the Fishing Background, and the tag has a the old flag background lightly stamped on it as well.

This second photo shows the texture on the boat a water.

Here are the stamps and dies I used for this project:

The Candle or the Mirror

Hello Friends!!  I have a sweet little project for today - I know I always have fun with these challenges, but sometimes they are SUPER fun LOL!!!  And this one is just that.  I love this quote by Edith Wharton - There are two ways of spreading light:  To be the candle, or the mirror that reflects it, and I love the beautiful font of this stamp, and how it looks in the different colors.

It's for ODBD's Shining Light Challenge #154 - in celebration of Stone or Wood.  Normally a challenge with the words Stone or Wood would mean a tree or something woodsy or rustic for me, but as soon as I saw this challenge I thought of the fabulous real wood veneer "card" stock that I've had in my stash for at least a year.  It's made of real wood and made for stamping - so why not!??!!

This card is also for the Color Throwdown Challenge - CTD#242!!

here are two ways of Spreading Light

Here's a swatch of this week's Color Throwdown.  Another great arrangement of colors - that are so so pretty together!!

To make this card I started with four die-cut panels - one in the wood veneer, the others in White and Ivory Naturals card stock.  I also used four stamp pads and coordinating markers - for the quote and frame.  After die-cutting the panels I inked the quote stamp using the Markers, then created the polka-dots using ink pads and finger daubers.  How easy is that!??!

To be the Candle or the Mirror that reflects it

It's been a long time since I've used markers to ink a stamp, and at first my colors overlapped and looked a little messy.  So coloring/stamping the sentiment took me a few tries.  There's still a bit of color overlap but I'm okay with it :)!!

Quote Close-up

One of the things I love to do is engage perfect strangers in conversation.  It's amazing what a smile can do for example, whether a person seems happy and breezy, serious or stressed, a smile can lift a spirit and brighten a person's day. A knowing look, an understanding nod, taking time to truly listen or say thank you, these are little things that can make such a difference!!  But for me, laughter is the BEST - I especially love when I can strike up a quick hardy laugh with someone - out of the blue.  That is the best!!  It's hard to explain but I think this quote does it well - one can be the Candle, or one can be the Mirror, and both bring light and joy :)!!~

Just for You :)!!

Hi friends and stampers - hope there's some sunshine in your day today, I'm seeing a peep of it here and hoping to see more :)!!

I have a fun card to share - for today's Color Throwdown Challenge #CTD241.  This is my second card as May's Guestie Designer, and again we have a great color pallet to work with.  Like most people I can get in a sort-of routine, a very comfortable routine with color for example, and it may not show in my projects but I've definitely been in a bit of a color 'slump'.  I noticed that in designing with very specific color combinations these last couple of weeks, that I'm looking at color with a fresh new eye.  It's like all my neglected colors of card stock have suddenly spoken to me LOL!!!  Here's the color swatch for CTD241:

Anyway, on to my project.  To make this card I die-cut two SB panels, then created the background using an Acetate Background technique.  I placed the die cut panels together (one inside the other), placed a clean piece of acetate over them - swished and dotted SU! Markers onto the acetate in a general design, then spritzed the acetate with water and pressed it onto the card stock.  Easy peasy.

A Cupcake Just for You :)
Then I stamped, colored and delicately cut out my Cupcake image, stamped and die-cut the Just for You tag, and started adding some (just a bit) of glitter LOL!!

Here are a couple of close-ups:

Just for You - Close-up

I won this Just for You stamp set in an Addicted to CAS challenge a few months ago - the card I submitted won the CAS Perfectionist Award!!  The stamp is from Inspired by Stamping - Joanna has lots of wonderful stamps, embellishments, tutorials etc., - and I'm glad to be finally using this stamp from her :).

Cupcake and Sentiment up Close

This photo above shows all the fun details and sparkle - I used Copics to color the cupcake and Stickles, Crystal Effects, Matte Glaze and Clear Art Glitter to decorate everything.  I also layered the SB dies so that the center panel is raised a bit higher than the outside frame panel.  The next photo shows that detail.
