Faith is Seeing Light with your Heart

Hi Everyone!  It's another beautiful Tuesday here with lots going on.  Hope it's a beautiful day for you too - and I hope you find some inspiration and joy during your visit today.

My card is for ODBD's Shining Light Challenge #152 - using stitching on a project.  I don't bring out the sewing machine as often as I'd like, primarily because I have no room for it in my work space.  But for today's card I made some room :)!!

For this card I wanted darker colors and a bit of sparkle - to really speak to the meaning of the quote.  So rather than white or vanilla, I used Crumb Cake and Black card stock and some coordinating flocked paper.  First I stamped the quote from Quote Collections 3 in craft black ink and embossed it, then die cut that top panel.

Faith is seeing Light with your Heart

Then I die-cut two more SB Panels in the flocked paper and added extra fine Black Glitter around the edges.  I then layered all using foam tape and set aside.  The next step was to emboss the Crumb Cake layer using an embossing folder, and stitch that layer to the black card base using a wide zig-zag stitch on my sewing machine.

Faith - Alternate View

The last step was to add the Ribbon and flower element.  The ribbon was made using Becca's Bow Maker, then adorned with a beautiful red/burgundy Rose and punched pine accent.  Below is a close-up that shows some of these details.

Faith - Close-up

It's hard to see in the photos but the glitter adds so much subtle sparkle, and really brightens this card in real life.  I love this quote - it's so true, and is a great reminder that we can put heart and love into all that we do, even when things look bleak.  I find in my own life that it's during those times that if I open my heart and keep faith, I am able to realize all the little miracles that happen every day - usually in the smallest of things.  Miracles that I may overlook during normal or happier times.  Little things that are true miracles to me, that let me know I'm not alone and that I'm on the right track.

Anyway - below is the stamp set I used for this project:

God's Love for Us

Hi stamping and blogging friends - it's Tuesday and that means I have a new ODBD card to share.  First though, I hope all is well and you enjoy some sunshine wherever life takes you today!!

This week's ODBD Shining Light Challenge #151 is to make a card that celebrates and cherishes God's Nature.  For this project I went back to one of my favorite sketches, but added something very special - a few new flowers from my sweet friend and fellow ODBD DT member, Sabrina Jackson.  She can do truly amazing and beautiful things with flowers, lace, pearls and all things soft and feminine, and it's such an honor that she shared some of her flowers with me.  Here's a link to her blog if you want to take a peek at her art:  sjbutterflydreams.

I started with the Quote from the new Quote Collection 3 set, and decided to use my Copic markers instead of my go-to sponges and ink, to blend some warm purple/lavender colors that coordinated with the flowers.

God's Love - Alternate View

Next I added an 18K Gold Leaf border, matted/popped and gold-leafed the other layers, and then worked on the floral spray design.  I wanted a touch of green but didn't want anything too bright or dark, so decided to go with a white die cut flourish and Copics to lightly color it.

God's Love - Close-up

Above is a close-up of the floral arrangement.  Aren't these flowers gorgeous!!???!!  They look even more realistic and beautiful in real life.  Thank you again Sabrina :)!!

God's Love - Another View

Here's another view to show off the wonderful Quote.  Below is one more in case you haven't gotten enough LOL!

God's Love for Us!!
The mix of soft and feminine in the flowers and colors seems to add so much to the crisp hard lines of the panels.  I like how this came out - and I hope it leaves you inspired in some way :)!

Amazing Grace, How Sweet the Sound

Hello Stamping and Blogging friends - Happy Tuesday!  Thank you for stopping by - today I have a new ODBDSLC card to share, for Challenge #150.  This challenge is about Scripture or Hymns - and I chose to use my new Chalkboard Amazing Grace stamp.

I love the chalkboard stamps because depending on the ink and paper used they can add so much natural texture.  I had purple on my mind and as you can see went with a monochromatic look!

Amazing Grace - How Sweet the Sound!!

To make this card I stamped the Amazing Grace image on Pale Plum card stock using Perfect Plum ink - twice.  Then I die cut both layers and trimmed the top one and popped it over the other.      Then I stamped it one more time to cut out and pop the words Amazing and Grace.  These are delicately cut out and covered in Glassy Glaze.

The next step was to stamp and die cut the Butterflies using the Butterfly Branch stamp and coordinating Die set.  After this was die-cut I did a bit of trimming to separate the butterflies.  They are also covered in some areas with Glassy Glaze.

Amazing Grace - How Sweet the Sound

I love the soft look of this card and I hope you all like it too!!  Here are the stamps and dies I used for this project:

Sweet Cupcake Birthday!!

Hello Stamping Friends!!  Hope all is well.  Very busy here with travel for work and some home remodeling projects (all good stuff), but haven't had much time to make my normal visits to all my friends in Blogland or on SCS lately.  Things will be back to normal here very soon, so please know I'm thinking about you all :)!!

Meanwhile I have a new card to share - for today's ODBD SLC #149.  This week we're having fun with shaped cards - we're making projects that are anything but square or rectangular in shape.

I had fun with this one!  My card is for a special little girl, and it's made using ODBD's Cupcake Plate stamp.  To make it I stamped the Gingham background in pink, then stamped over with the Cupcake Stamp twice - once for the main image and a second time for the popped cherry and candies.  Then I stamped the Happy Birthday and delicately cut out all those elements.

Sweet Cupcake Birthday

Then I sprinkled some chunky clear art glitter on the frosting, swished Liquid Pearls on the candy icing, dotted bright red Stickles on the Cherry and covered the cupcake plate/stand in glassy glaze and added foam tape to the back.

Here's a close-up of the Cupcake:

Sweet Cupcake Close-up

To make the back panels I stamped two layers in Gingham - these are both the same color, but one is stamped off to get a lighter look.  These layers are die cut using SB Peony dies.  The circle panels include three die cuts in the smaller panel - one in Black, then two offset each in a different Pink color.  The black panel is dotted with white liquid pearls - all three layers are adhered as one panel and popped over the card base.

Here's another photo showing all the layers and dimension:

Now, on to my project.  To make this card I stamped the Morning Glory Collage image twice - once for the main image panel and again for the popped up postcard image and additional popped flowers.  I colored the flowers, leaves and background using Copic markers, die-cut the main panel and fussy-cut  the Postcard.  I added a Wisteria layer behind the postcard and distressed both of those layers.

Morning Glory Front View

Then I die cut two Labels 26 panels - the top panel was stamped in ODBD Gingham Background then trimmed and embossed, then matted over the second.  At that point I die cut the greenery, stamped it in the same Gingham background, and started assembling everything.

Below is a close-up of the postcard and sentiment I used.  After coloring all the flowers I dotted the centers with white gel-pen to make the pop a bit more.  I also covered the stamp with Glassy Glaze to make it shiny.

Each layer is popped on dimensionals - here's another view which shows some of that in more detail.
