ODBD 5th Anniversary Release Blog Hop

Hi Everyone - I have some exciting news to share today - Our Daily Bread Designs is celebrating its fifth year in business!!  Happy Anniversary to ODBD - this is such a special time for all of us.  This is also my first ever Blog Hop :)!!

Welcome to the Our Daily Bread designs 5th Anniversary Release Hop!  Each year, Kelley allows each of her design team members to submit a Scripture Verse, a Sentiment or a Quote, and those submissions are made into the Anniversary sets.  Today's hop will show most of those submissions, and we truly hope you love them as much as we do!
If you got here from Tosh's amazing blog:  Stamp Talk w/Tosh then you are in the right place!

If not, you can always start at the ODBD Blog and hop from the very beginning.  You truly will not want to miss a thing - the 5th Anniversary Stamps and the DT's wonderful designs are worth seeing in all their glory and beauty.  And as always - there are prizes!!
Here are the details of the hop:
  • Hop will run Mar 16th 8:00am EDT to Mar 17th 8:00pm EDT
  • Winners announced Mar 18th
  • There will be THREE PRIZES of $25.00 Gift Certificates toward stamps! (must be claimed within 2 weeks)
  • To qualify for one of these prizes, simply hop to each designer, leave a comment and return to the ODBD Blog to let us know you finished the hop.  If you had any problems along the way please let us know in your ODBD Blog comment, and most of all leave your Congratulations on this big milestone for Kelley and Rick!

Before moving on to my card, I just have to say - I had no idea when choosing a verse for the 5th Anniversary, how honored and special it would feel to actually create a card using that same verse.  It was quite a moving and spiritual experience for me.

So it's no surprise that the image on the front of my card was stamped on scrap card stock and was in no way intended for the actual card, but was created more as a test - just to see how the stamps would look together, etc.  No Stamp-a-magic was used, no careful precision with respect to where the lettering and horizon would meet; just a random stamp, one onto another.  Yet it turned out perfectly :).

The Lord is Near - Alternate View 1

To create this focal panel I stamped The Mighty Sea in Sahara Sand, then stamped the Psalm 145:18 verse in Soft Suede.  Then I softly colored the sun, sea and sand areas using chalks, re-stamped the Mighty Sea image in Soft Suede and delicately cut a couple of the Sea Birds to help bring everything together.

Then I die-cut the trees and flowers, colored the petals using markers and added a teeny dot of liquid pearls to the centers.  The photo below shows these details up close.

The Lord is Near - Close-up

To make the SB background layer I die-cut two panels - one in designer paper, the other in card stock.  I wanted these layers to be 'nested' but the next sized SB die was too small - so after embossing the paper layer, I carefully cut around the edge to get the matting effect I wanted.

The embossed designer paper layers are adhered directly to the card stock layers, but each of the other layers are all mounted using two different heights of dimensionals - to sort of 'group' the layers.

The Lord is Near - One More View for you

So, I truly hope you've enjoyed this special 5th Anniversary Hop with us today.  Thank you!!!

From here, I will send you back to the ODBD site, so you can post your final comments:

I love those happy accidents that you couldn't recreate if you tried! I also love the way you've stamped the scripture verse over the sea image, and the tiny pops of colour from the sun, and the flowers on the tree. It reminds me of Greece - we don't tend to get trees growing on the beach here, but I've often seen it when on holidays in Greece. It also makes me think of Moses' flowering rod.
This is just so beautiful.
